Advanced Courses in Rare Lipid Disease 2019-2020

EAS is pleased to announce the Society's endorsement of Advanced Courses on the topic of Rare Lipid Disease. These four, stand-alone, 1-day courses will took place 2019 - 2010 in Zurich, Switzerland; Stockholm, Sweden; St Petersburg, Russia; and Berlin, Germany. The majority of the lectures was given in the respective national language.

The aim of the courses was to examine rare genetic disorders of lipid metabolism including ß-sitosterolemia; cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis, lysosomal acid lipase deficiency, disorders of high density lipoprotein and familial hypocholesterolemias. While the prevalence of these individual disorders is low, collectively they are important and the busy specialized practitioner will encounter patients with these conditions. Lipidologists need to be familiar with their diagnosis and treatment as they may be associated with high morbidity and mortality.

The objective of the courses was to review practical aspects of evaluation and management, and to describe real clinical cases of these disorders.

Switzerland

The Swiss edition of the Course took place, November 23, 2019 at the University Hospital Zurich, Kleiner Hörsaal OST, HOER B 5, and the organiser was Professor Arnold von Eckardstein. 

Sweden

The Swedish edition of the Course took place on, December 6, 2019, in Stockholm. The organiser was Professor Paolo Parini.

Russia

The Russian edition of the Course took place, February 23, 2020, in St Petersburg. The organiser was Professor Marat Ezhov.

Germany

The German edition of the Course took place, February 22, 2020, in Berlin. The organiser was Professor Ulf Landmesser.
