Grants, Awards & Fellowships

The Society uses its resources to encourage scientific excellence, and to strengthen research in the field of atherosclerosis by providing opportunities to young, up-and-coming scientists and researchers to launch or progress their international careers.

Young Investigator Fellowships to attend Congress

These Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to selected presenters of poster or oral communications, who are aged 35 or under on the starting day of the Congress. They include:

  • Complimentary Congress registration
  • Complimentary 1-year Society membership
  • Complimentary invitation to the social events, Congress Welcome Reception and Networking Evening
  • A grant (up to 400 €) towards travel & accommodation at Congress.

The Fellowships are awarded at the discretion of the organisers.

Application will open September 16, 2019.

Travel grants to attend EAS Congress

These grants are awarded to selected presenters of poster or oral communications who live and work in countries where funding for travel to international meetings is difficult to obtain.The grants cover:

  • Complimentary Congress registration
  • Complimentary 1-year Society membership
  • Complimentary invitation to the social events, Congress Welcome Reception and Networking Evening
  • A grant (up to 400 €) towards travel & accommodation at EAS Congress.

The Grants are awarded at the discretion of the organisers.

Application will open September 16, 2019.

Young Investigator Awards for the year's outstanding publications

These annual EAS prizes for young scientists are intended to recognize distinction shown by publications that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of atherosclerosis and linked metabolic disturbances. One Prize is awarded for clinical research and one Prize is awarded for basic research. Each recipient will receive a prize of € 2000.

The candidates must be 40 years or younger on December 31, 2019.

The publications are to be nominated by an EAS member (i.e., who has paid their annual membership fee for year 2019). You may nominate yourself.

Application will open at the end of the year 2019.

Atherosclerosis journal 60th anniversary - Best paper Award

Atherosclerosis was founded in 1960, hence, in 2020 the journal will turn 60.
The Editors and Publisher take this opportunity to announce a contest for “Best Atherosclerosis Paper Award 2020”.

Eligible manuscripts are original research articles of young scientists (< 40 years) as first or corresponding authors, submitted between July 1, 2019 and October 31, 2019, either as first or revised version.

The Editor-in Chief and Co-Editors will select the winner among the top rated papers accepted for publication before April 1, 2020. The winner will be invited to present the work in a lecture and will receive a certificate and an award of 1000 € during the 88th EAS (European Atherosclerosis Society) Congress held May 31- Jun 03, 2020 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Moreover, her/his Congress registration fees and travel/accommodations costs will be covered by EAS. The winning article will be published with promotional open access free of charge for the authors.

First or corresponding authors younger than 40 years shall state in the covering letter that she/he applies for the “Best Paper Award 2020”.
