2018: EAS Advanced Course in Nutrition, Athens, Greece

This 2-day course is organised by EAS, the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition of the Agricultural University of Athens and the Hellenic Society of Lipidology, Atherosclerosis and Vascular Diseases.

The Course is targeted towards health professionals at a senior PhD level, young researchers and/or academics with a PhD with nutrition background. Nutritionists, dietitians, physicians and nurses would significantly benefit from the course. 

Learning objectives:

The learning objectives of the course are to

  • describe the effects of nutrients and dietary patterns on risk factors and end-points of cardiovascular diseases and
  • give proposals for the prevention and/or treatment of cardiovascular diseases through dietary modifications based on the most recent scientific knowledge

The Course will cover

The course will cover various aspects of cardiovascular nutrition including

  • the current guidelines of European Society of Cardiology
  • the effects of fatty acids and antioxidants on the development of CVD
  • the current findings on the implications of vitamin D status on the disease
  • the dietary patterns which could reduce significantly the risk
  • case studies will be discussed with the participants

    Participation fee

    Applicants will be required to pay in advance a registration fee of 100 € (one hundred Euros) to confirm their place on the Course.

    What will be provided?

    EAS will provide the following (included in the registration fee):

    • Accommodation April 19-21 (2 nights). 
      N.B. Participants are expected to arrive in the afternoon on Thursday April 19 and to check-out before 12.00 hrs on Saturday April 21. 
      Additional nights' accommodation are at the participant's own cost.
    • Meals as follows (coffee breaks are included):
      • welcome dinner on April 19
      • lunch & dinner on April 20

    Travel arrangements

    Delegates are expected to make their own travel arrangements. Reimbursement for travel expenses up to a maximum amount of 200 will be provided.

    Attending EAS Advanced Courses requires an active individual EAS Membership.

    Application - closed

    The organisers will review all the applications we receive and select the persons to be invited. The selection criteria are based on:

    • the applicants' statement of motivation and CV
    • whether the applicant has attended other EAS Advanced Courses
    • at least 1 year must pass before you can be accepted on another course, on a different topic
    • at least 2 years must pass before you can be accepted on a course covering the same topic
    • geographical region

    Application deadline was February 04, 2018.

    We will notify applicants on whether their application to attend has been accepted on February 22, 2018.
