EAS Advanced Course on Atherosclerosis - Dyslipidaemia & Inflammation in Vienna, Austria

This 3-day course is organised by EAS and Medical University of Vienna and is targeted towards senior PhD students, post docs and MDs.

Learning objectives:

  • interaction between participants and faculty
  • presentation of ongoing research of the participants
  • basic principles of atherosclerosis at the interface of dyslipidaemia and inflammation
  • novel research concepts in atherosclerosis

The Course will cover

  • basic and novel principles of atherogenesis with respect to dyslipidaemia and inflammation, including lipoprotein metabolism, genetics, vascular biology, innate and adaptive immunity and clonal hematopoeisis.
  • the interaction of lipid metabolism and vascular lipid accumulation with immune cells and inflammatory responses will be covered at several levels to provide a mechanistic understanding of the chronic inflammatory disease process.
  • insights from clinical studies as well as novel treatment strategies targeting immunity and inflammation will be discussed.

The 3-day course will take place from Tuesday, December 04 - Thursday, December 06, 2018.

Course location

The Course will be held at the CeMM Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna, Austria.

Participation fees

Applicants will be required to pay in advance a registration fee of 100 € (one hundred Euros) to confirm their place on the Course

What will be provided?

EAS will provide the following (included in the registration fee):

  • Accommodation December 04-06 (2 nights).
    N.B. Participants are expected to arrive in the afternoon on Tuesday December 04 and to check-out before 12.00 hrs on Thursday December 06.
    Additional nights' accommodation are at the participant's own cost.
  • Meals as follows (coffee breaks are included):
    • networking dinner on December 04
    • lunch & official dinner on December 05
    • lunch on December 06

Travel arrangements

Delegates are expected to make their own travel arrangements. Reimbursement for travel expenses up to a maximum amount of 200 € will be provided.

The organisers will review all the applications we receive and select the persons to be invited. The selection criteria are based on:
• the applicants' statement of motivation and CV
• whether the applicant has attended other EAS Advanced Courses
• at least 1 year must pass before you can be accepted on another course, on a different topic
• at least 2 years must pass before you can be accepted on a course covering the same topic
• geographical region

Application deadline is September 09, 2018.

We will notify applicants on whether their application to attend has been accepted on September 25, 2018.
