September 24 is the International FH-awareness day. All this week, in a series of newsletters, EAS highlights activities to raise the awareness of FH. In this newsletter, we focus on how EAS and the FH Studies Collaboration are working on raising awareness of FH in the medical community through educational activites.

EAS educating clinicians about FH

In the region of Gothenburg, Sweden, and in collaboration with health authorities, EAS has begun a project to educate healthcare professionals about FH. We have put together an educational tool about FH directed to the doctors in the region who take care of FH patients, cardiologists, internal medicine or GP:s. Through this project local doctors access online lectures about FH on EAS Academy, which are then followed up by local face-to-face meetings. Already planning to extend to other regions, this project establishes a model for how local health authorities can improve their management of patients with FH.
