New on EAS Academy:
Video presentations from EAS Advanced Course on Atherothrombosis

The advanced course on Atherothrombosis that was held in Vienna in November 2017 provided a comprehensive overview of the basic principles of atherothrombosis as well the vascular alterations leading to it. Both clinical and basic science experts gave stimulating presentations on topics ranging from vascular inflammation to plaque vulnerability and clinical aspects of atherothrombosis. The contribution of the vessel wall and plaque composition as well as the role of all major vascular cells and humoral factors in atherothrombosis were discussed.

Finally, novel concepts such as immunothrombosis, the role of the gut microbiome, as well as systemsbiology approaches in cardiovascular medicine were presented.

These are some of topics in the presentations:

EAS Academy is an essential e-Learning resource in atherosclerosis. As the Society's educational platform, it offers a wealth of online learning material such as video presentations, quizzes, case studies, slide sets, key articles and CME-accredited modules. Available online and as app.

Abstract submission open:

The 41st Scientific meeting of the ELC will be held at the Evangelische Akademie in Tutzing, Germany, from September 10-13, 2018.

The overall aim of the ELC meeting is to bring researchers together within the field of lipoproteins in relation, but not limited, to cardiometabolic disease. The ELC meeting is a relatively small informal meeting that can be attended by only approx. 110 participants. The registration fees are low (€200-400 depending on age), and include participation in the scientific sessions, accommodation and all meals.

The concept is a good mix of presentations by research investigators, postdocs and graduate students. Abstracts are selected according to their scientific merit, and it has become one of the traditions that many graduate students give presentations. Young investigators automatically participate in the competition for Young Investigator Oral and Poster Awards, which include a financial reward.

We look forward to meet you in wonderful Tutzing at the Evangelische Akademie in Tutzing, Bavaria, Germany! To be able to be selected to attend this year’s meeting, please make sure to submit your abstract by May 01, 2018.
