Supporting Young Scientists

We firmly believe that continued high quality research into atherosclerosis depends on the education and enthusiasm of young investigators. In recent years, the Society has made a special effort to recruit young basic scientists and clinicians from a wide range of  disciplines related to atherosclerosis. A key goal of the Society is to support these young scientists in the development of their careers, for example, by:

1. Running educational activities, such as advanced courses.

2. Offering funding for travel to meetings of the EAS and other Societies.

3. Presenting Young Investigator Awards at the EAS annual Congress.

Most recently, we have introduced moderated poster sessions into our annual scientific Congress to encourage active discussion and exchange of viewpoints between young investigators; we are indebted to our Distinguished Members for their support of this initiative by acting as Poster Chairmen. Such initiatives are the manifestation of the policy of our Executive Committee to encourage participation of young members in our activities, and to bring new ideas to ensure the future development of the Society.
