Biography
Professor S. Lale Tokgozoglu MD, FACC,FESC is a Professor of Cardiology at the Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey. After her studies in Medicine at the Hacettepe University, she specialized in Internal Medicine followed by Cardiology training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Tx.,1991. She was appointed Associate Professor of Cardiology at the Hacettepe University and Professor of Cardiology in 1998.
Her research interests have been clinical and preventive cardiology, cardiac imaging and genetic epidemiology of cardiovascular disease. She served as Secretary and President of the Lipid Working Group of the Turkish Cardiac Society from 1996 to 2000. She has been on the Guidelines Committee for the Prevention of Coronary Heart Disease in Turkey. She is currently serving as a member of the Nucleus of the ‘Pathogenesis of Atherosclerosis’ working group of the European Society of Cardiology. She is also currently on the Training and Fellowship Committee of the European Society of Cardiology.
Her scientific achievements have been recognized by several awards, including the Prof. Dr. Şeref Zileli award 1987, Sandoz award 1989 and the Young Investigator Award of the Turkish Cardiac Society 1994.
