Working with others

EAS has close links with national atherosclerosis societies, as we share many mutual interests and common goals. We coordinate an annual meeting of the Presidents of national societies, to facilitate collaborative approaches to the scientific, social and political challenges that many organisations face. While EAS has traditionally been a Society for individuals members, we can now offer EAS Membership for National Societies. We have ongoing initiatives to create international networks of centres of excellence, acting as referral centres. See Referral centres: genetic testing for FH, Referral centres: specialist clinics in rare lipid disorders, and Referral Centres: Study & training.

Educational activities for EAS members are central to EAS' mission - to exchange knowledge on the natural history, causes, treatment and prevention of atherosclerosis-related disease. We also believe that it is important to work together with members of related learned and professional societies - to share and exchange knowledge with a wider audience. EAS collaborates with other European and International organizations, notably the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the International Atherosclerosis Society (IAS), in particular co-organising joint sessions at related society Congress.

EAS is a member of The Alliance for Biomedical Research in Europe (Biomed Alliance), and collaborates with The Lipoprotein(a) Foundation.
