Dr. Momiyama graduated from Keio University School of Medicine in Tokyo in 1986. He was trained in internal medicine at Saiseikai Central Hospital in Tokyo and then worked as a clinical cardiologist there for 10 years. During this period, he was a research fellow at St. George’s Hospital Medical School in London for one year. In 1999, he became assistant professor of internal medicine at National Defense Medical College in Saitama. Since 2006 he has been the Director of Cardiology Department of National Hospital Organization Tokyo Medical Center in Tokyo. Since 2010 he has also been the Director of Clinical Research and Trials Office of Tokyo Medical Center. His research interests have focused on biomarkers, coronary artery disease, epidemiology, and MRI, especially plaque imaging. His previous studies have been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals including J Am Coll Cardiol, Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol, Am Heart J, and Am J Cardiol, as well as Atherosclerosis. Since 2005 he has become one of Editorial Board members of Atherosclerosis and has also been one of Associate Editors since 2011.
