The EAS Certificate of Education in Familial Hypercholesterolaemia is a new comprehensive online learning Programme on FH, now available on the EAS Academy.
What will I learn?The objective of this course is to give a broad knowledge about the most common genetic dyslipidaemia, Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH). The course covers all aspects of FH. It gives insight into the genetics of the disease, the basic molecular mechanisms, and its clinical development. It also covers many practical aspects of treatment of patients with FH, including FH in childhood, and management of FH patients and their families.
Who should take this Programme?
The course is suited to physicians who meet patients with FH, which includes a large number of specialities including general practice, internal medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, diabetology and other. The course is also suited to nurses and other medical professionals in lipid clinics or other clinics treating FH patients. Other professionals that will benefit from the course are basic scientists in the field of lipid metabolism and atherosclerosis and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry.
Programme overview and content
The online programme is interactive – participants learn by viewing presentations, reading consensus papers and working through case studies. Learning evaluation is by multiple choice questions. On completion of the course, the final step is overall evaluation and obtaining the Certificate.
