Young Investigator Awards for outstanding publications

These annual EAS prizes for young scientists are intended to recognize distinction shown by publications that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of atherosclerosis and linked metabolic disturbances.

The winners of the EAS Young Investigator Awards for outstanding Publications during 2016 are: 

Paolo Zanoni, Zurich, Switzerland - for the publication “Rare variant in scavenger receptor BI raises HDL cholesterol and increases risk of coronary heart disease” published in Science.

Pirkka-Pekka Laurila, Helsinki, Finland - for the publication “USF1 deficiency activates brown adipose tissue and improves cardiometabolic health” published in Science Translational Medicine.

Each recipient will receive a prize of € 2000 and will present their work at the annual EAS Congress during the "Rising Stars session", Monday April 24,  at 17:00. This session is followed by Keynote Lecture by Prof. Göran Hansson on How LDL causes inflammation in the artery wall.)
