We have received many nominations for candidates to EAS Young Investigator Awards over the last few days - so many, in fact, that our email system became full. Apologies to those of you who tried to submit nominations and found that their emails "bounced".
We have now rectified the problem, and will accept nominations until January 27.

We are pleased to invite EAS members to nominate candidates for the EAS Young Investigator Award (2008-2009). The awards recognize merit in work published in atherosclerosis and related topics, clinical or basic research, by persons under 40 years old. The prizes, 2000 EUR each, will be presented at EAS2010 Hamburg. Closing date for nominations: 25 January 2010.

Reminder! The final date to submit your abstract and participate in EAS2010 Hamburg, 20-23 June, 2010 is now less than one week away. Closing date for abstract submission is Monday 30th November.

We are pleased to announce that up to 10 awards of 750 EUR each are now available to fund the travel of selected young scientists to EAS2010 Hamburg. Applications are to the EAS Office. Details given on the Young Scientists page and the Congress website.

Thank you to all members who took part in the poll. The votes we received are as follows.
In answer to the statement "I support the election of Professor Jan Boren as Treasurer": Votes for = 140, votes against = 2.
The results have been independently checked and presented to the Executive Committee members, who gave their immediate and unanimous approval to the election of Professor Boren.
Professor Boren is hereby duly elected by the Treasurer of the EAS, effective from 1st January 2010 for a period of 4 years.

We are holding an election to appoint a person to the office of Treasurer to the Society. The term of appointment is for four years, and begins on january 1st 2010.
Voting is now open via the EAS website. Voting closes on Friday 30th October.
The current incumbent is Professor Jan Borén. He has been nominated for reelection; we have received no nominations for any other candidate. You can read Professor Borén's biography on the EAS Executive Committee pages.
