Three to five topics, selected by the organising committee, will be discussed at the meeting, in five working sessions spread over four days, starting with a Keynote Lecture on Monday evening, September 05, 2016.
One of the exciting features of this meeting is that we have a good mix of presentations by established investigators, postdocs and graduate students. Although the abstracts are all ranked according to their scientific merit, it has become one of the traditions of the ELC meeting that many graduate students give presentations.
Moreover, all graduate students automatically participate in the competition for the Joachim Ziegenhorn Young Investigator Award. Like last year, this prize will include a financial reward. Young Investigators can also compete for the Joachim Ziegenhorn Poster Award.
A preliminary programme for the meeting will be available by mid-July, 2016.
Abstract submission deadline Sunday May 08, 2016
Participation in the meeting is only possible for those sending an abstract of high quality. This abstract should be on one of the topics listed below. One can opt for the "Varia session". We often receive quite a few abstracts in this category allowing generation of a session on a "hot topic" that has arisen during the past year. For this session abstracts will be considered over a broad field of interest linked to lipoproteins.
The programme of this year’s ELC meeting covers:
- Cellular and systemic lipid metabolism
- Inflammation and vascular biology
- Genetics and dyslipidaemia
- Drug targets and treatment of dyslipidaemia

Because of the difficult financial climate affecting the amount of sponsorship, and because of the increasing requirement from funding bodies that participants contribute at least part of the cost of the meeting, a congress fee is necessary. There will be two payment rates: €500 for participants >35 years of age, €250 for participants ≤35 years of age. These fees include accommodation, meals, and the social event on the Wednesday evening.
Please note that payment will only be required if your abstract and application is accepted by the committee. You will be notified in mid June.
