EAS Young Investigator Awards (2008-2009)

The EAS fully recognizes that continuation of European research into atherosclerosis depends on the education and enthusiasm of young researchers. The Society is strongly committed to supporting and encouraging young scientists, and is pleased to make these two awards in recognition of outstanding published work (2008-2009) by a young investigator. We hope the awards will contribute to the continued research and further investigations of the successful candidates as they continue their careers within the field of atherosclerotic disease study.

The standard of this year’s nominations was very high indeed, and we received more nominations than ever before for the awards. Following careful consideration and deliberation by the members of the EAS Scientific Committee, the nominees selected to receive the award are:

  • Stefano Romeo, M.D., PhD
Institute of Metabolic Science
Addenbrooke’s Hospital
Cambridge, UK

For his publication in the Journal of Clinical Investigation

  • Giuseppe Danilo Norata, PhD,
Department of Pharmacological Sciences,
Università degli Studi di Milano,
Milan, Italy

For his publication in the journal Circulation

Each award is for the sum of € 2000 (two thousand Euros). The awards will be presented during the 78th EAS Congress in Hamburg, in a special ceremony to take place on Monday, June 21st, 2010 at 17:30, which will include a short presentation by the award winners.

Congratulations to both successful nominees. We look forward to seeing you in Hamburg.
