EAS Elections

Result

On behalf of the members of the European Atherosclerosis Society and its EAS Executive Committee we would like to thank all the candidates who stood in the election. The poll has been independently verified, and the results are as follows:

President
Professor Alberico L. Catapano,
with 90,5% of the total votes, becomes the President Elect in January 2012, and will begin a four-year term as the Society's President in January 2013.

Secretary
Professor Petri Kovanen,
with 97,5% of the total votes, is re-elected the Society's Secretary, and will begin his second four-year term in January 2013.

Executive Committee Member
Professor Arnold von Eckardstein
was the candidate polling the highest number of votes (almost 36%) and is duly elected to become a member of the Society's Executive Committee; his four-year term begins January 2012.

We wish Professors Catapano, Kovanen and von Eckardstein all the best as they take on their new positions and continue the development of the policies, initiatives and activities that will in time fullfill the Society's mission - to advance and exchange knowledge concerning the causes, natural history, treatment and prevention of atherosclerotic disease.
