A proud tradition of EAS Congresses

The EAS organizes an annual 3-day scientific Congress, attended by approximately 2 000 scientists and clinicians, in a different European country each year, in close collaboration with the National Society of the host country.

Since its inception, the EAS has held 79 Congresses and various Workshops throughout Europe. Past Congresses have been held in Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Israel, France, Austria, Spain, Czech Republic, Finland, Turkey, Germany and Sweden. The Congress provides a forum for exchange of knowledge between EAS members and others, strengthens the links between EAS and the host country’s National Society, and shows the truly European character of the EAS.

Each Congress features plenary sessions with lectures given by distinguished speakers, in-depth workshops on selected topics, and a wide variety of symposia and satellites on various issues in the field.

We see our annual scientific Congress as a forum for this development, where young scientists have the opportunity to present their own work, as well as learning from the senior scientists at the forefront of their field. We have recently introduced moderated poster sessions into Congress to encourage active discussion and exchange of viewpoints between young investigators; the Society is indebted to our Distinguished Members for their support of this initiative by acting as Poster Moderators.
