The European Atherosclerosis Society organizes a three-day Congress each year, except in years when IAS holds its meetings. Each Congress is attended by approximately 3000 scientists and clinicians.
The Congress is held in a different European country each year. It consists of:
-
plenary sessions, with lectures given by distinguished speakers
-
small in-depth workshops on selected topics
-
a wide variety of symposia and satellites on various issues in the field
Since its inception, the EAS has held 77 Congresses throughout Europe. Recent Congresses have been held in Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands, Israel, France, Austria, Spain, Czech Republic, Finland and Turkey, reflecting the truly European character of the organisation.
EAS members benefit from reduced registration fees when attending EAS Congresses. This reduction is applicable only to those who were EAS members in the year preceding the Congress, i.e., for EAS 2010 Hamburg the reduction applies for those who were EAS members in 2009.
In addition to the large annual congresses the EAS organizes smaller scientific workshops, summer schools, and other forums for professional interaction and education. |
